Relief vs Reset

There are two different ways of dealing with frustration, pain, sadness, or just a bad day. By making it go away, temporarily. Or feeling what there is to feel, by going through it.

The Relief button is always there, right beside you. An endless social media scroll, complaining, a high sugar dose, binge-watching, gossiping, drinking, or taking on others. These are the most immediate solutions for instant relief. But just like eating 200g of chocolate, the relief quickly goes away, and the crash, the regret, and the pain always come back. It helps, until it does not.

The Reset button is placed in a higher stand. You have to tiptoe, to jump, to reach for a chair, or to get onto someone's back. You will eventually get there. Just to find a slower, but more permanent way of dealing with your emotions. A walk outside, a journaling session, a meditation practice, a phone turn-off, a nap, or a difficult conversation.

Both buttons are available. You just need to decide which one to reach for.

Numb the dark and you numb the light.
